What is The Delaware Mud Run, Jr?

The Delaware Mud Run, Jr is a 1.5 mile race with boot camp style obstacles that have been surrounded by or consisting of mud. People cheer as participants slip, slide, and slosh their way to victory. It is a unique experience whether running or watching!

Where is the Delaware Mud Run, Jr?

The event is held at Frightland in Middletown, DE.

Who can participate in the Delaware Mud Run, Jr?

The Delaware Mud Run Jr is for kids ages 6-13 years of age (must be 6-13 yrs of age as of the day of the race). This age restriction is important for safety reasons.

How much does it cost to participate?

The registration fee is $40 + a $2 processing fee until registration closes on June 3rd. However, you must register your little mudder by May 27th in order to be guaranteed the t-shirt that is included with your registration.

What do I get with my registration?

You get to slip, slide, and slosh your way to the finish line in Delaware's original dirtiest race for kids! PLUS, registration now includes an official Delaware Mud Run Jr. T-shirt if you register by May 27th!  You're also donating to a great cause!

When does registration end?

Registration closes on Wednesday, June 3rd at midnight. Don't worry, if you miss it, we'll be here next year too.

Will there be "same-day" registration?

 No, there will NOT be same day registration. ***There will be a $50 per mudder, convenience fee, for packets picked up AFTER June 6th or on Race Day***

If I want to get involved but can't run the race, can I volunteer?

Absolutely! We need volunteers to assist before, during and after the event.

How deep is the water/mud?

Not more than 12 inches.

Packet PickUP

When and where is the packet pick-up?

Monday, June 8th and Tuesday June 9th from 12noon until 8pm.
The location is Blue Diamond Park, 761 Hamburg Road, New Castle, DE 19720 Click for Directions

**You can send a friend, a family member, even your long lost cousin three times removed to get your packet. There will be no packet pick up the day of the race.

Please note: some GPS and route guidance apps will say that Blue Diamond Park is closed (which it is) however, you can still access the property via the address above.  When you turn into the park, off of Hamburg Road, you will then make first right (you will see Mud Run flags) and we will be down on the right side in our Mud Run Trailer.

When and where is "downstate" Packet Pickup?

Downstate Packet Pick up will be on Wednesday, June 10th from 10am until 1pm at the Royal Farms in Milford, DE, located on Route 1 next to the Grottos (also on Rt. 1). Click for directions

What if I can't get to packet pickup?

We are sorry, but there is a $50 charge to pick up your child's packet the day of the race.

We have volunteers working for 2 1/2 days at packet pickup prior to the event. Our times and locations allow for most everyone to get their packets in advance (come on your lunch break, before or after work... at not just one but two different locations!) We appreciate your understanding.

Can I pick up multiple packets at the same time?

Yes! However, if you are picking up 5 or more packets please email delawaremudrun@gmail.com with your list of little mudders by noon on Saturday, June 6th so that we can have them ready for you.

Parents

Can parents run with their kids?

Yes and No. Parents can walk along side most of the course in the spectator area and watch their kids run the majority of the course. If parents feel their kids will need help, please choose the 7:45pm heat. This heat will allow parents to join their kids to ensure they can make it through the run with a helping hand. Only the 7:45pm heat will allow parents to run with their kids.

The Day Of

What time does the event start?

Gates open at 3:00pm, with the first wave begins at 4:30pm. Opening ceremonies begin at 5:30pm. Mud Run Jr. START times occur every 15 minutes. Runners can choose the START time that works best for them (and their parents) when they register. Please register early if you want to run with friends or teammates who are registered for a specific heat. We WILL NOT be moving kids to a different heat once they are registered. Please register early if you want to guarantee your child runs with their friends.

How long with the run take?

Your child will likely finish the event in approximately 20 to 25 minutes.

Can my friends and family come out to watch?

Absolutely! And there's no charge for spectators. However, they will need to pay for parking $5 prior to the event; either online or at packet pick-up. Event day parking will be $10 at the gate.

Is there a charge for parking?

Yes. General Parking passes can be purchased prior to the event; either online, when you register, or at packet pick-up. Event day parking will be $10 at the gate. Preferred parking can be purchased online or at packet pick-up for $50

Are pets allowed?

NO!! While we are animal lovers, for hygeine and safety reasons, pets are NOT allowed at the event!

What do I wear?

As much or as little as you want. Just be aware that you probably wont be bringing the clothes home with you. We suggest you bring a bag to put them in along with a change of clothes. Our suggestions would be long pants to protect your knees while crawling through the mud, sneakers or shoes that will go up to your ankles for support, etc. NO bare feet and NO cleets!

What do I do when I arrive to the Delaware Mud Run, Jr?

Head to the infield and await the start of your wave or opening ceremonies. Please arrive no less than 1 hour before your wave. Then prepare yourself for the most fun you will ever have! If you have a later heat and miss opening ceremonies, come to the start line. Each heat will be grouped 15 minutes prior to their start time.

 

Can I switch heats so I can run with my friends?

Each heat has a limited number of runners for safety purposes. If you want to run with your friends, please make sure you SIGN UP with them!! THERE WILL BE NO SWITCHING WAVES.

What is the weather going to be like?

We can't predict the weather. Sun is good, rain is fine, either way, IT'S ON!
